CWO (Mr Gnr) R.J. Beaudry was born in Cheticamp, N.S. and enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in March 1984. After his basic recruit and Battle School training, he was posted to the 1st Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (1 RCHA) in Lahr, West Germany in August 1984. He served in a variety of artillery positions from Gnr to MBdr, including that of a Gun Detachment Commander for an M-109 155mm Howitzer.
Posted to the 2nd Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (2 RCHA) in Petawawa, ON in 1991, CWO Beaudry participated in Canada’s final United Nations (UN) tour in Cyprus (Operation SNOWGOOSE Roto 59) in 1993 and proudly served with E Bty “Para” until its disbandment in September of that same year. As a member of F Bty, he served twice in the Former Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY), namely in 1994-95 (Operation CAVALIER Roto 4) and in 1996 (Operation ALLIANCE Roto 0). Promoted to the rank of Sgt in 1999, he returned to the FRY for a third tour in 2001 (Operation PALLADIUM Roto 8).
Promoted to WO in January 2003, CWO Beaudry was deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan with the 3 RCR Battle Group (BG) in 2003-04 (Operation ATHENA Roto 0) and upon his return, performed the duties of the Battery Quartermaster (BQMS) until 2005. After a year-long course in Kingston, ON, he was posted to the Directorate of Ammunition and Explosives Management and Engineering (DAEME) within ADM(Mat) in Ottawa in 2006, and performed Master Gunner duties within the Ballistic Support Cell for the next two years. He was promoted to MWO in 2007.
Appointed as the Battery Sergeant Major (BSM) D Bty, 2 RCHA in July 2008, CWO Beaudry returned to Petawawa and deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2010 as part of the 1 RCR BG, Task Force 1-10 (Operation ATHENA Roto 9). In July 2011, he was posted to the Munitions Experimental Test Centre (METC) in Valcartier, QC as the Trials Coordinator and Unit Sergeant Major.
Promoted to his present rank in May 2012, CWO Beaudry was posted to Gagetown, NB and was given the honour and privilege of being appointed the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery School in June 2012. He has completed the OPME Program, is a graduate of the Army Technical Warrant Officer Programme (ATWO III) and is presently working on his Bachelor of Military Arts and Science (BMaSc) with RMC.
CWO (Mr Gnr) Beaudry was appointed as the RSM of The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery (RCA) in June 2015 and was appointed as the Combat Training Centre (CTC) Formation Sergeant Major in July 2015.
CWO Beaudry and his wife Henny have two children, Shane and Kayleigh, and he enjoys hiking and having camp fires in the back yard with family and friends.
