The Meritorious Service Medal

The Meritorious Service Medal (military division) recognizes a military deed or activity that has been performed in a highly professional manner or of a very high standard that brings benefit or honour to the Canadian Forces.

The following were awarded the M.S.M:

  • Col (Ret’d) MD Capstick – 2006 – “For outstanding professionalism as Comd of Strategic Advisory Team to Afghanistan during deployment with Task Force Afghanistan, Aug 05-Aug 06”
  • Col (then LCol) L.J. Hammond – 2014 – “For outstanding leadership as DComd of the Canadian contribution to the NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan, Jun 13 to Mar 14”
  • Col (Ret’d) JCR Lacroix – 2011 – “For outstanding professionalism and leadership as DComd of Joint Task Force Afghanistan, Feb to Nov 09”

  • LCol J.M.A.L. Dufour – 2014 – “For outstanding efforts with the UN Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Jul 12 to Aug 13”
  • LCol SJ Hunter – 2009 – “Awarded as a member of Canadian Special Operations Force Command”

  • LCol (then Maj) GW Ivey – 2007 – For exceptional leadership and tactical acumen as Battery Comd, E-Battery, 1 RCR BG in Afghanistan, Aug 06 to Mar 07.
