Judge William Rodgers was appointed Honorary Lt Colonel of the 15th Field Artillery Regiment in 2010. From 1988 to 2008 he was a Civilian Instructor with 103 Thunderbird Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Cadets in North Vancouver here he coached the Squadron’s Range Team and assisted with the Advanced Survival Training Program.
Judge Rodgers attended the University of Toronto and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971. He later attended the University of Windsor and received his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1976. He was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1977 and was appointed a Judge of the Provincial Court of British Columbia in 1991. He presides throughout the Province in all divisions of the Court: criminal, family, youth and civil.
Prior to his appointment to the Provincial Court, Judge Rodgers was elected in 1986, 1988 and 1990 to the Council of the District of North Vancouver. He served as Council’s representative on the Hospital Board, Police Liaison Committee, Emergency Preparedness Committee and the Greater Vancouver Parks Board.
From 1979 to 1983, he served as a Director of Mountain Equipment Co-Op and from 1995 to 1999, he served as a Director of the B.C. Games Society for the Winter Games and the Games For Athletes With A Disability held in North Vancouver .
His special interests include fishing, hunting, skiing, hockey and playing an amusing game of golf.
Judge Rodgers is a past member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Law Society of Yukon Territory. He is currently a member of the Canadian Association of Provincial Court Judges, the Commonwealth Judges Association, the International Commission of Jurists and the American Judges Association.
